Lyca Mobile Romania closure – FAQ

It has been eight years since Lyca Mobile launched in Romania. During this time, it has been our privilege to help Romanians connect with friends and family, wherever they are, through our network.

Sadly, we have taken the difficult decision to close Lyca Mobile Romania.

Lyca Mobile services in Romania will shut down on 31 December 2023.

You will need to move to another mobile network operator before this date to continue using your mobile number.

We understand this closure is disappointing news. Below you will find important information about transfers and refunds.

Important things to know about Lyca Mobile’s closure in Romania

Lyca Mobile services in Romania will shut down on 31 December 2023.

At Lyca Mobile, it has been our mission to provide quality and reliability at an affordable price for our customers, wherever they are. In recent years, operational costs have become increasingly expensive which has led us to the difficult decision to close our business in Romania.

Your mobile number will cease to work with Lyca Mobile after the shutdown. This includes calls, texts and mobile data.
You will need to move to another mobile network operator before 31 December 2023 to continue using your mobile number.

To transfer your existing number to another network, please contact our customer service team via online Chat, on 151 from your Lyca Mobile, or +40 (377) 881 276 from any other phone.

Note: after 31 December 2023, email will be the only option for contacting us.

Your personal data will be stored for 12 months unless you specifically request it to be deleted before the closing of Lyca Mobile Romania on 31 December 2023. After the 12 months, your stored personal data will be deleted.

Lyca Mobile plans will be removed from sale at the end of November 2023. It will not be possible to top-up your Lyca Mobile online or using retail top-up vouchers once Lyca Mobile Romania’s systems begin shutting down in late November and end on 31 December 2023.
Any plans or top-ups purchased at retail will expire on, or before, the closure date.

Any unused credit in your Lyca Mobile account after 31 December 2023 will be cancelled.
Before the closure of Lyca Mobile Romania, you can request a refund by contacting our customer service team.
Unless previously agreed, Lyca Mobile credit is non-transferable.

If you have purchased a long-term plan from Lyca Mobile Romania you are eligible for a refund.
